Larry Hildebrandt – Demonstrated the advantages of Canon, Nikon, Sony or Pentax flashes off camera using your cameras built in remote flash capabilities. He gave a live demonstration of Nikon's Creative Lighting System using up to four remote flashes. Larry then explained the advantages to using your cameras TTL flash metering system and how to use filters on your flash to match the ambient light in a room. Larry demonstrated how to synchronize your cameras flash at shutter speeds as high as 1/8000th of a second, and demonstrated that by using these fast shutter speeds with flash you have complete control over the exposure of both your foreground and background. Links are posted on this website (under Resources) connecting you to several YouTube videos by Dom Bowers and Joe McNally covering the use of flash. |

"The one phenomenon that has continued to mystify beings on a mental, physical, philosophical and sociological basis is loneliness; for without interaction, it is impossible for us to function naturally. This is not only a visual representation of one of the most influential and universal struggles we endure, but a call to action to inspire change. This collection takes a look at people involved in my life through circumstances that display their personal struggles with loneliness."
This project is what I have been passionately working on in all of my spare time outside my busy life. Please take a few minutes to read the description and look at the photos. I would love any feedback or criticism you have. bryce (AT) bryceevansphotography (DOT) com Voting deadline has passed. This project is entered in Exposure 2011 and is in contest to become a world-class photography exhibit in New York City. Thank you for all the love and support! Bryce Evans

At our Nov 23rd meeting Shannon Carson demonstrated how textures can add warmth, grunge, age and more to our photos. She showed us how to create our own textures in Photoshop, then how tweak and apply them to an image. She also taught us her use of custom brushes and told us how to find and download more. Shannon demonsrated the basic steps in creating outstanding works of art in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, inspiring many of us to venture in to the artistic side of photography. Visit some of the many sites that Shannon uses to find her textures and brushes by clicking here. |

Dean Watkiss and Rick Price, two of Central Alberta's premier portrait photographers hosted this studio lighting workshop event. Approximately thirty members
braved the cold weather to snap photos of headstones, skeletons, and scary graveyard
models. Strobe lights were set up to
capture a skeleton as it flew past the headstones. The strobes were set up
using Nikon`s CLS flash system and were set to flash three times per second for
a total of ten flashes. At the countdown shutters were tripped staying open for
ten to thirty seconds creating an image blended from flash and ambient light.
Rick Price hosted a
session using up to five remote flashes to illuminate
the scene with our models. Once again a countdown was given and images
were
created with a blend of flash and ambient light. Several smaller groups
went
off to illuminate their own photos with flashlights, glow sticks and off
camera
flashes. After the photo shoot about twenty-five
attended the social event at Tim Horton’s.
Thanks to Daniel Pelissier for providing these photographs

Nov 9th, 2001 Rick Price gave a brief talk on the different methods of setting up a mixed media slide show. He showed a fifty minute wild life video that combined video, stills, music, sound effects and titles. Rick's humorous and entertaining commentary kept everyone laughing as we viewed his outstanding wildlife photographs. Rick photographed all of his video with a Canon point and shoot (20x zoom) camera. The sound and video that this small camera produced was outstanding. After the meeting several members stated that Rick's presentation has inspired them to start shooting video. To see some of Ricks work visit his website at www.photographybyrickprice.com. At to-nights meeting Jan Boyarzin presented her slide show on the Galapagos Islands to a full house. She showed approximately 300 photos from the 3000 she took from her June trip to Ecuador and the islands. Jan showed her photos of the varied land and seascapes, as well as some amazing animal photography. She showed us that you don't need fancy photography equipment, just a good point and shoot (she uses a Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS510 (read the reviews on her camera here).
